Salvaging DF equipment

Just wanted to know what is the most efficient way to salvage the following items:

Emerald seal
Sapphire seal
Diamond seal stuff

Should I get my metalworking up to 500 or get a high level crafter to salvage the items for me :)

Well, I'm not sure that I can say for sure what the best way is. For me, I just salvage it and then hinge it. But it took a loooooong loooooong time to get my metal working high enough to be able to do that.

Basically, I think your options are the following:

1. Sell your seals to the highest bidder (should be able to get 1/3/10g for emeralds, sapphires, and diamons respectively).

2. Buy the Diamond plate chest piece and let me salvage it for you (should get about 13g / seal this way).

3. Ask around to see if anyone else would mind salvaging it for you (however, I've heard most people charge like 50% to salvage and hinge).

4. Skill up your metalworking through Weaponcrafting and/or Armorcrafting.

Note that metalworking is a secondary skill, and therefore is capped at your main skills level. 750 Metalworking will get you the maximum bars out of DF armor. You need 950 to be able to salvage the highest drops from Shrouded Isles.
