with my optical mouse I dont see why I even need a mouse pad. Just something else to clutter my desk. That one does look cool though. I was thinking about getting a peice of mirrored glass so the red light would shine even more. I dont know if that would mess with the optical part of the mouse or not.

I doubt it would work. The optics work based on the irregularities of the surface.
My daughter had a smooth white desk, and we had to put a pad down for it....

You don't need a mouse pad with an optical. I love my optical because I don't have any mouse pad edges to worry about. I can let it run naked and free! :w00t:

And like Jim said, a mirror wouldn't work.

heh, my kb starts sliding across my desk until i have no room to move the mouse...
