Anyone make a Home Theater PC yet. Just ordered the parts for mine. I'm going to use it for playing DVD's on the Hitachi HDTV, playing MP3s and CDs on the stereo, etc. DVD's look awesome coming from the 9700 Pro card through the DVI cable to the HDTV. It takes some tweeking to get the right refresh rates, scan rates, and resolutions, but there is a significant improvement in picture quality. The picture quality coming from the 9700 Pro card through the DVI cable was better than a $300 Panasonic DVD player with component video. Cant wait for my parts to get here.

My HTPC will consist of:
AMD XP 2200
Shuttle mobo kt266A chipset
256Megs DDR
ATI 9500 video card
Hercules Game Theater XP sound card
16X DVD Rom
40 Gig WD 7200 rpm hard drive

I just got a Home Theater in a Box thingy. Did you turn on progressive scan with that $300 Panasonic DVD player? You know that DVD's are still recorded at standard TV rates, right?

I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, but I would have gotten an All-in-Wonder 8500 so that you could record TV and make DVDs out of your VHS tapes. I don't know what an AIW 8500 runs, so it might have been out of your price range.

I just use my PS2 for DVDs, since I only watch old movies....

8500 dv 64mb aiw card is less than 200 dollars and has a remote control that comes with it. very good card for the price and has all the feature you need. i suggest for you mm station go with one of those cubes which can be bought for a few hundred dollars and has everything you need except the aiw.

just notice the specs you posted. look into the shuttle nforce 2 cube. and the game theater is by far one of the best and most effiecient units out there. i have on for over a year and it kicks ass. it has every plug you can think of.
