This is earlier than I'd expected. Visiontek sez they are currently sold at CompUSA and elsewhere, but they don't have a listing quite yet. Can any of us stomach $500 for a card?

The ati version is going to be the 9900, this is just a 9800 with extra memory,
and I don't think that there is going to be anything out there that can
utilize it for a while, so it will be wait for me.

if it would beat the hell out of my 9700 pro, then I would pay for it. If I was made of money, for sure, I'd get 2 for giggles.

I'm wit choo. Although, I have a GF4 4400. The 9700 PRo is still running with the big dogs right now, according to some of those early benches ran on the FX2 and 9800s, though it will have to relinquish the crown to one of those cards. When Doom 3 is out, and crushes the crap outa my system - as I anticipate - I'll be looking at what's out there with a more pointed interest. Unfortunately, my MB won't do the 333 FSB, supported, so the best proc upgrade I could do would be a 2600+ 266. Maybe I'll push this system 'til next spring, and get a second gen A64 board and fancier card then, unless I'm good this year and get it for Christmas....but what're the chances of that?
