Ok well as most of you know i only got this game like 2 or 3 weeks ago and from what ive heard you need a better mouse and mousepad(?) than the one that came with your computer. So basically im just looking for which one you guys are thinking is the best. Ive heard you need buttons on the mouse and that it should be a non-ball mouse(optical i think its called)...well I def. dont want a ball mouse cause sometimes this mouse just doesnt turn right when i tell it and im afraid thats going to happen if I get another one. Thx

I have had my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical for over a year now and haven't had a single problem with it yet, and I have even used the damn thing on a wall. As far as a mouse pad i dont think it matters that much but I'm more of a hardware kind of guy.

I use a logitech MX700 mouse, and my new addition is the Thrustmaster Tactical board. Still getting used to the board, but the mouse is the fo' shizzle.

I'm sorry but i gotta disagree with these guys, i just tested out both the MX500 (same mouse as MX700 exept its not wireless) and the MX700 at my dads work and I had to go with the MX500. Wireless is all good and ausome if your not gaming but I didn't find it 100% reliable. Although the 700 is probably the best wireless to date, when it comes to gaming, i want everything perfect, 1 shot with the LG is the difference between a win and a loss. ;)

I'd go with the MX500 all the way, I've be working it for a week and its the best thing since pron :shifty:

mouspads i have no idea, i just use my optical on my wood table :jammin:

MX500 at a cheap, and reliable service (where i got mine from) link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006HZ0K/qid=1058776462/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/104-3477629-0027904?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846)

I've got a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer that I use... it's a wired optical and I really really like it... it's got two thumb buttons too that help add a little more flexibility with my weapon assignments. I've also got the same mouse but in the wireless version at my house but my girlfriend uses that and I've never really tested it for gaming...

As for mouse pad. Before I got this alienware pad (which totally roxorz!!) I used a Ratzpad which also totally roxorz!!! I gotta go get blood samples taken but I'll try to find you some links when I return

blood samples?!

<---uses Microsoft Optical Wheelmouse (will probably upgrade to the Intellimouse that yellow uses soon)
and a Ratpad. they are sweet for the optical mouse but i have seen yellow's new alienware pad and wouldnt mind giving one of those a try myself.

www.ratpadz.com <---linky for the Ratpad

ok unfortunately alienware's site is kinda gay and won't let me link you directly to the products.... so I'll give you some instructions

click this link ---> http://www.alienware.com/gearshop_pages/gear_shop.aspx

on the left click on mouse and keyboards - all the mice are the intellimouse explorer 3.0 which is what I have... I have the one at the very bottom of the page, no fancy colors or anything. I'm sure you can find it much cheaper elsewhere

on the left again click on accesssories - there's the mousepad. Now i feel as though I should explain the mousepad a little because that picture just does NOT do it justice. First of all, the pad comes in 3 pieces. One piece is where you actually move your mouse and it says alienware. If you look real close around the edge of the picture you can see that it kinda has a border. Well that's the second piece. It's a rubber holder for the first piece. The reason you need a rubber holder is because the first piece is actually double sided! It's got one sorta rough side and one really smooth side so you can choose which one you wanna use. The third piece is a little clip thinger that attaches onto the top of the mousepad holder and holds your mouse cord. You kinda loop in thru there and it keeps it at the perfect length for you so that you never run out of cord but you don't also have too much - very handy!!

One comment on mousepads. DO NOT USE a cheezy cloth one!!! hahaha those just suck. Ratpadz are pretty much like a plastic cutting board as far as surface texture goes. The Alienware is a little smoother than the ratpad on one side and mad smooth on the other side. I gotta tell you though, mice GLIDE over both the ratpadz and this alienware pad. You'll be very happy with either

Ok sounds good...anyone ever hear of this fUnc pad?...Sounds alot like the alienware one you were talking about. http://www.func.net/

i would honestly say that i think, after looking at the funC pad, that alienware rebadges the funC pad with the alienware logo (like they do with all their gear)...ive seen yellows pad and it looks exactly like the one in those pics, so i would say that if youre looking for a pad the one you just linked would be a good start

No crap. If I wasnt using this porcelin table as a stand I wouldnt have a mousepad.

Red is exactly right, they're identical.... in fact, he's so right that it's kinda funny.... the rubber/plastic piece that holds the actual mouse surface says "Func Industries" at the top, and the bottom has www.func.net written in the rubber as well.

Ya know I never even realized those were there.. I guess I sorta assumed that it was just alienware text or something

well, all this talk of mice got me thinking, its time for me to get a new mouse. ive been using the cheap $20 microsoft optical wheelmouse for like 2 years now. its still in good condition because my sens is so high that i barely move it! however, it was time for a change. soooo...on the way home from work last night i stopped at staples and picked up a brand spanking new Logitech MX500!!! i wasnt sure what i was going to get when i went in but i looked at both the microsoft intellimouse explorer 3 (that yellow has) and the MX500 and the logitech felt better in my hand and had a more solid feel to it, so i got it...this mouse is SWEEEEEEEET...it took me a long time to get used to it in ut2k3 last night but after a while i was getting the hang of it. if you do get it though, be sure to download the newest drivers from the logitech site or the scroll wheel wont work in UT2k3 (i ran into this problem)...its a great mouse, you will enjoy your purchase and id suggest it to anyone

were you emailed any tracking information or can you find it from their website if you look under your order status?? maybe it got shipped via a different carrier for some reason and it's sitting in your mail box... can't wait to actually play with ya man!

Nope :/..no tracking or anything for the mousepad. Ill give them till tomorrow before I call them..but I did pay 20 bucks for express shipping on Monday..and it will be thursday and its still not shipped? Not really express shipping. I can deal without the mouse pad though more than I can the mouse. My mouse is here so im not too pissed yet =)

Yellow[GummiBear]

yeah that sucks if you paid extra for the shipping and it still isn't here... I'd definitely say something to them and try to get a little money back or something free

as for your new mouse... GGs tonight man!!! looks like it's working great!

I know you already bought it, but you bought wisely!!!

I own the MX500 and the Alienware FuncPad. I use the Smooth side (the other side is rougher like a RatPadz). It feels like its gliding on air.

Seriously.. the right mouse, mousepad DOES make a difference in your play. I could never be as good on a crappy cloth $3 mousepad and a cheap old Optical or ball mouse.

You pay for what you get.

heh actually I never got the func pad...im reordering it now. Ive been using my desk cause its alot more difficult to use on a regular cloth mouse pad. Also getting a mic.

I'm using my 1337 Alienware mousepad...which is awsome, I love it. And my Alienware Microsoft Intelli mouse...which is equally awsome. Just be sure when your getting and optical mouse test it 1st... I have a few that skip all crazy like when you move them to fast...which is deffinatly not a good thing in UT, but I've had no trouble with the Intelli mouse, no matter how crazy/fast I move it.
