First they announced that they only sold 80,000 systems worldwide last quarter and now they are announcing they are halting production on new units until fall. Combine this with third party developers slowing down GC support and it sounds like Nintendo is fighting to keep from having its second console flop in a row.

Call me crazy, but I could care less about specific consoles. If a game is good, I'll play it.

But here is a prediction for you...by the end of the decade, I predict we will see a Mario game on a Sony platform.

I just hate having to buy a particular console to play a game I would enjoy.. ie. Metroid, etc.

Sony is still the alpha male in the pack. Mario probably will appear on a sony system eventually.

They are still selling the GameCube, they just have so much in inventory from people not buying it that they don't have to make new ones for awhile. Don't worry, GC will be supported for at least 2 more years.

Yes.It's called the phantom or some such nonsense. You will DL games from the net.(Guess it's broadband only?)Yeah, good luck guys.

Hardware wise the GC is a solid little box.In the end,it doesn't really matter. All we get are sloppy seconds from the PS2.The only reason I bought the thing was because they have the exclusive on Resident Evil. Now I find out RE4 wont be out until late 2004 and the PS2 has an online version of Resident Evil!(Damn you Nintendo!!)

Ive known about this for some time. The fact that its games are good, but theirs not enough of them to last. It sucks, Im a Nintendo person as well as a Sony.

But as long as the Game Boys stay alive its no real bad thing to me.

i dont like game cube for one reason: its all kids games!!!!
( although animal crossing does look pretty fun :shifty: )
sony has variety (<--- second time i use that word in the past 10 min. better save some of this brain power for later!)
and why the crap are game cube discs so small!?!!??!!? SO YOU LOOSE THEM!!! YOU NOT GETTING ME THIS TIME NINTENDO!!!!! BAH HAHAHAHA!!!
and i like sony because they keep it simple, you have the huge game cases with the big slot in the side so even grandma can open it. the controlers dont have confusing letters, they keep it simple with shapes (you learn shapes in kindergarden! letters dont come untill grade 1!!!!!)
and the console has like 2 buttons although the back switch is kinda hard for the older people.

dad: how do you turn this thing on?
me: push the red button...
dad:..... what red button?
me: ON THE FRONT!!
dad: there is no red button
me: then hit the switch on the back
dad..... huh?
me: ON THE BACK!!!! BAH!! let me do it.... *click*
dad:...... i coulda done that :shifty: ...... how do you open it?
me:

Its just the games that made the Cube lose its ranking. For real its a great console  Id say Resident Evil was the reason it lasted this long unfortunately not long enough.

But then Capcom decided to work on Sony now. So its like cool?

Bah, Nintendo will be around for a long long time I say. The Gamecube may be just be what the Saturn was for the Gamecube. But then again that may lead to what the Dreamcast was for Sega....

I think the GameCube is dying a painful death. Nintendo has made some really poor calls with system the past few years, and the company cannot stay afloat with the GBA and remaking old fav's. I hate to see it...Nintendo was 'the' game system for so long and they ruled the market. With PS2 and the PSP and all the horsepower that Sony has, I think the big N should cut it's loses and bail out. There is no shame in making games...Sega is doing a great job now that they don't have to support a console. And Sega and Nintendo both have the arcade games to make them money. Nintendo will be around for a long time, but I think that their console days are coming to an end.

I have a PS2 and I don't really like it. A bunch of crazy Japanese games are all I can find. I bought FFX and MGS2. MGS was great, and so was FFX, but I'm tired of Final Fantasy.

Nintendo has consistently solid games with good game play. I hope they don't die.

Nintendo has just too much blind pride to quit the consol market, like they said in an interview i read a while back "the day we quit the consol market is the day we stop producing games" (or somehting like that)

I hope Nintendo does well in the next round of consoles, but they need to realize the kids that made them a monopoly in the late 80's are in their mid to late 20's now. That's why Sony and MS are kicking ass. Features like online play, DVD playback, and more PC-like features are drawing the older crowd.

What would be cool is that Nintendo and Sony worked together to build the greatest console ever!

They did...this was how the Playstation was born. Nintendo stabbed Sony in the back and Sony released the PS on its own after some tweaking instead of a CD addon for the SNES which is what the PS was originally planned as.

Why was the N64 so good? It was the only game console out that had better graphics than any other at it's time, and almost never froze like CD's do. All the GC needs is Super Mario World in 3D. They need a god damned Mario game and a god damned good FPS, RPG, etc. Mario 64 will always be in my heart for the very best video game that I ever played in my life. I was 7 years old and I beat that game in under a year. They also need to make a series of games besides RE. They need to make something like Twisted Metal 2. WTF a Possum just fell out of a tree in front of my house O_O. Anyways, I remember everyone was so siked because Zelda,Metroid,Starfox etc. Were coming out for GC. Well everything but Metroid and Zelda was a total failure. They need to stop ****ing around with the little kiddies and start hitting the big market like X-Box. Get to the BIG group of people, teens. Violence drugs blood guts guns etc. Thats all folks

Eternal Darkness was a sweet game and rated mature, it kicks residnet eveil's A$$ any day, so despite being a "kiddy consol" the GC does have the all time best (and most under appreciated) survival horror game ever created.

I don't know Slik. Sega was/is still one of the premier Arcarde game makers. I don't think they 'weren't' making any money. I will agree that they didn't make a red cent on the Dreamcast...in the states. The system was mega popular in Japan. They also make toys and other crazy crap.

Nintendo dug themselves their own grave, so now lets let them lie in it, I love Nintendo but with access to an XBox, PS2 high range PC and GC they are losing out. I dont know exactly when they turned their backs on 3rd party publishers but its been downhill since then. Also Nintendo have no respect for their European market, which understandably makes me very angry.

i think the n64 was a great unit. i bought that unit for the wrestling game and until this day still rocks more than any other consoles games. i hope they make a comeback because the way the games moved in the n64 i have missed in todays consoles. i think sports games are what makes a console. as for ps2, i think it's an over priced piece of crap. how they can charge the same price as the xbox pisses me off. the hardware is out dated and most of the games stink. i gave mine to my nephew who dosent know better.

if you ask me what game i thought was the most advanced i would say turbo graphics was the best. although the company didnt make alot of games for america, if you got them from japan there were some good stuff. i use to love those credit card cartridges.
