Saving Pictures Problem

Just today I was on a website where I tried to save some wallpapers to my computer. Well when I right clicked and chose Save Picture As I could only save the file as a bmp. I checked the properties of the picture and it was a jpeg... in trying to determine whether or not it was just the website or something I went to multiple websites and tried to save pictures from them but it always ended up that I could ONLY save it as bmp... normally when you click save picture as you get filename.jpg and then you click Save... all I ever see is 'untitled.bmp' and I don't have the option to save it as anything else.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on here???

dunno, i see that with some types of images.
i just open them with irfanview and resave them to the proper format.
irritating but oh well.
