Ok gang. Sorry for the delay. You've all been asking about it and I finally got my second system setup and running. It will be the host for your very own, Outlaws of Darkness TeamSpeak server.

To connect to the server, you will need the latest release of the software (Link (http://www.teamspeak.org)).

Once the software is loaded, click on Connection and then choose Quick Connection.

Enter the following in the respective fields:

Server Address: 24.243.18.189:8768
NickName: [your daoc or gamemecca name here]
Login Name: [leave blank]
Password: term

Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

I might have to try this tonight. Don't have a mic though, unless I steal one from my roommate puter :shifty:

Thanks DE for running this

Do I need to use headphones when using a mic? Will there be feedback if I still have my surround sound on? I have some good headphones already so I dont want to invest in a whole headset with mic.

If you set up a button to activate the speech then there should be no problem....i think

I just have a desktop mic and it's what I've always used. I've never had any problems, it'll work just fine .

Dirtgod is right. Set up a push to tallk button. Much better than voice activated so you dont get any background noise in the chat. Also, If the other person has voice activation on, you will hear your voice echo back through your speakers. Push to talk will avoid that interference.

The only problem I see with this is that if 20 of us get on at the same time and we are in different groups. If someone yells run then no one will know who said it in which group.

That is why we should learn to use the Macro Language that comes with the game to setup our own commands.
This can help to do short cuts and make up our own for fast response.

I think I will look into it more but I am still new at the game and have so much to learn
with this game before i can get use to it.

We could setup a rule when someone is in trouble with a special word and that will have everyone
to stop talking and listen and if more then one gets it then first come first serve.

There isn't a problem with having different groups on. Just make a channel for your group. Then have everyone in your group join that channel. Try it out and if you don't have access to create channels, let me know.

That should work fine Machine. I'm just using a piece of junk mic that I bought for like a buck at a local computer store.

And yes....you can get feedback if you don't have headphones. However, if you are somewhat skilled in the art of mixer controls, you can get it to work without feedback. Takes some work to get it set up correctly so you can still hear the game sounds too.

Note to self: Buy headset .... and give Term a wedgie.

I'm just trying to learn a few things here, but how would a headset make a difference? :hmmm: Isn't the input/output the same as speakers and mic? Just relocated into a different device? :WTF:

Death Engineer

A headset prevents feedback by not allowing what you're hearing to go back into the mic (making a circuit). For those of us that use voice activation , this helps alot because my altec lansing speakers tend to trigger my mic.

It just basically reducing the annoying echo you hear of yourself talking (for the other people...not really the person with the headset). :P

I will try with my rear channel speakers turned off and if there is any feedback I'll put my headphones on.

I heard from Mr Clean that your rear channel is really quite noisy (and something about scrumptious or something...couldn't really understand). :P

What's the error message? The server was down most of the day yesterday due to storms in the area. It's back up and running now.

Grim, that's actually not the right server. I have a server running on the default port (8767, I think) for my Q3 UFreeze clan {XKL}. So you'll actually have to put the port in there. Everything else should be the same though. Send me a PM if you still can't get in.

I pushed the max users up to 12 from 8 since the server has gotten fairly popular. Someone with some dedicated bandwidth may have to take over when it gets over 20 users though. :oooo:
