well a couple days ago i went into compusmart just to waist some time and look around at stuff and they had a computer set up with UT2k3 on it, so i started playing it then some guy ask if i wanted to sign up for a contest for the game, i said ok, all i had to do was see how many bots i could kill in 5 minutes against 10 bots on normal difficulty. well i got 23, i figured it was a pretty good score for never having played the game before, i went back there yesterday to see how i was doing in the standings and i won, so now im supposed to go to toronto for the national finals.
i was just wondering how many kills you guys can get in 5 min angainst 10 bots on normal difficulty, just to see how much practice ill need :P
did anyone else enter tihs contest?
heres the poster.

lol the wcg in korea is where the TOP players will be...like imagine 10 normal bots and time there skill level by a 1000 and put that into one player. You won a mini qualifier and toronto will be a real qualifier for the big show in korea (real cash once you hit korea but I think there might be prizes in toronto) There will be players there at toronto that could demolish you but if I were you I would go just for fun to watch..its not gonna have a huge setup like korea will have with huge big screen tvs and like a 1000 people there, but it would be cool. In all honestly though go in there with zero expectation to win. GL!!

lol, i know, i dont expect to make it to korea. im just going to toronto for the hell of it, i might win somthing cool, you never know. and the poster does say "win a trip to toronto" :shifty: that would be sweet if i got a limo, lol. toronto is only 2 hours away but im sure that will give me enough time to annihilate the mini-bar in the limo

Ive never heard of any form of anything for transportation for a qualifier..and most of the big tournaments dont pay for anything (you automatically win like 200 dollars though for last place or something)..wcg in korea will be paying though. If you actually get a limo...that means you either are some vip or jesus, or they are so desperate for ut2k3 players in canada. I highly doubt that they will pay for a single thing for you...did you ask about it? I think what they said by win a trip to toronto was win an invite to toronto...that would be really nice though if they actually paid for something for you though. At the usa qualifiers you got to take home a real nice alienware pc..like 2500 dollar pc for just making the qualifiers, but basically only 8 players went and all 8 were in top 40 in the world.

Congratulations on winning a trip to toronto. I hope you have a good experience when you go, but I strongly urge you to practice about 12 hours a day until the day of the tournament. The level of skill that you will see at the WCG event will most likely amaze you. I was in the WCG finals event for the US this year but unfortunately I was not able to fund my trip to get there, so I was unable to show. I don't wanna let your hopes down, but judging from the score you posted about killing 23 bots, I wouldn't expect to even get 1 kill on any of the other players.
Consider this event to be more of a learning experience and hopefully it'll make you get into the competitive scene a little more. We always enjoy new players around. BTW, this is what I was capable of doing in the same settings.
