UT2003: My review...(first look)

I jumped online and played my first game just now. I lost to some guy named LOL something by 4 DAMN! Hehe...I wanted to win my first.

Anyway...my thoughts:

I liked this game....BACK WHEN IT WAS CALLED QUAKE3!!!

Slik should like it LOL They made this shit absolutely identical to Q3 in every way. It runs way way smooth on the net tho...damn sweet.

The weapons were very very lame, but it's fun anyway.

It is harder than hell to kill somebody here. You spend like 2 minutes brawling before you get a kill. I swear I planted 5 perfect rockets on some dude, and he still kept going!

In the overall scheme of history, I give this game a 6. I will play it mucho mucho tho, since I am downright bored as hell with Sam.

Any other thoughts?

Dang i agree with you Hammer.

i could not kill somebody for the life of me! I still got first on my team but it took much repeated fire to actually kill the guy.

i intend to play the game often but the quick deaths of sam are more my style!

Hopefully that is the first screenie :) The screenshots are WAY better than the actual graphics in the game LOL. The game graphics aren't that great. They don't look NEAR this sharp or clear.

i personally don't enjoy long long multiple rocket placement fights, i love the thrill of the serious sam shotgun shootouts, you never know how its gonna go till the end!

i'll get UT 2003 in the spring, when i get my new computer :)

I played it. The rocket laucnher blows, it does no damage practically and no splash either. Quake3 = better than this. Your right Hammer, graphics were not nearly as good seen in the screenshots.

Frantic killing in Sam is fun but its downright ****ing retarded when it takes little to no effort to kill someone.

Anyways I wont be buying this game. I will cotninue waiting for Doom3 and its sweet sweet beta/demo whenever that comes out. I recently acquired Quake2 and I have been playing that online. I have all the Quakes so Ill be busy with those and whenever SE gets its damn netcode fixed, Ill be playing that a lot more also.

I gave it a bash and must admit it did FEEL very similar to quake. And yeah, the weapons were... uninspired, and dogfights too long. However, it was nice to play with no lag for a change.

Where was the futuristic shotty? <chuckle>

By the by, what is the ETA for the game itself? And if we are going to "unite as one clan" <thunder> for this then perhaps we should start that topic up again..

Its alright .. I also think it takes much too long to kill someone. I will shoot the person for literally 1 minute at the head and he will not die . .

I hate to say this, but I agree with Hellraizer. I do NOT like the weapons, I hate the characters in their super mech armors, and it just didn't seem to flow as well as Sam. The only good things it had going for it was the graphics and the smoothness of gameplay. It will take a while for me to get into this one. Sam still possesses me.

I haven't been able to play it yet due to a problem I'm having with it, But maybe the reason it seems like it's hard to kill someone is prob'ly because the server/s you all are playing on is set on a difficulty setting that makes it that way or that's the only setting they have for the demo. Like I said I haven't played the game yet and I might be wrong. The screenshots look like Q3 to me.

I thought the game was great except that the damage level seemed to be in about the "tourist" range.

the damage level was the same for even when you played bots . .and when the person dies and falls it has a super messed up movement . .the guy will slide and bounce for like a mile and then come to a complete stop .. its messed up . .i really dont like the game at all that much .. i still prefer sam ..

I think its just that we are just not used to it, I have been playing the bots quite a bit today and I am enjoying it more and more. It is unbelieveably smooth and I think some of the weapons fire graphics are awesome. BTW, I tried to run a server off of one of the JERCLAN servers and i was getting errors. I will work on it on Monday.

The more I play it the more I like it. The adrenaline factor is really cool. You can do a bunch of special moves including invisibility once you figure out the arrow combinations. BTW you need 100 adrenaline to do a special move, then just the arrows in a combo of 4. For example hitting down 4 times gives you health regen.

We played on the Gamemecca server, but I could only find it through Game spy Arcade.

Even though Im no fan of Unreal Tournament, this DM is much better than Sam's.

You people arent used to randomly shooting a rocket or somethign and killing someone in one hit. Or blowing someone away across the map with the shotgun or something stupid like that. THe rocket laucnher sucks in that game, reatively no splash, but dont bitch about a DM game where your knife doesnt do 100 damage and your rocket launcher doesnt do 400. Sam is the only game with that screwed up DM.

Yeah.. but when i was shooting somebody with the gun that you get when you re-spawn(forget what its called) it took forever for them to die.

i must have shot them point blank in the face for 10 seconds straight.


Now if you ask me, other games are like sam too.

MOHAA people die really fast. RTCW people die really fast as well. Jedi Knight II people die at a reasonable pace.

the only reason Sam is so very screwed up is because we have it set to serious difficulty.

UT2003=takes forever to kill somebody.

I got the demo, it is ok. I am not crazy about the weapons. I think the graphics rule and it runs smooth. Something about moving around I don't like. Oh yeah, no freakin shotgun. I mean they could have at least put in like an automatic shotty or something. I feel like every weapon is like carrying around a tank. The green ball shooting plasma gun, blows. I don't know how much of this game I will be playing. :?

Heh wish I knew, I can't see any servers. When I first loaded the game and looked there were like 1,800 servers listed. Now I can't see any? WTF
