:w00t: I'm talking about the third installment in the infamous UT line-up, Unreal Tournament 2004. As well as the second installment in the BF trend Battlefireld Vietnam. :w00t:

If anyone has purcahsed one of the two, if not both, feel free to compare and post about them here. As far as i'm conserned i'm equally excited for both of them. Although i've not played BF1942 recently, i still remember it as being very unique and fine lookin. :wootrock:

As for UT2K4, there isn't much to say except that its gonna be EXTREMELY popular among UT fans and to people just getting aquainted with the insane MP game. I my opinion BF aims more towards realism, while UT goes for the speed and fun.

So....what do u think?

I havn't heard much about battlefield vietnam...is there a demo? I've seen some screen shots and they look pretty good. Is it made on the same engine as 1942? I played the demo for UT2004 and thought it was complete crap....as in the vehicles were horrid. Someone go buy vietnam so they can tell me about it.

I picked up BF: Vietnam. Initially after loading it up, I gave it a so-so grade. Unfortunately I'm a total noob to the BF series and never even tried BF 1942. The objectives and strategies initially didn't seem obvious to me and the vehicle control, especially air vehicles, was not so easy to comprehend. The potential to camp spawns is pretty bad and load times are very long.

Now after playing a few rounds, though, I'm starting to see the potential in this game a bit better and I'm starting to really enjoy it. It has a good overall look and ambiance, and the music is definately a nice touch (its cool to hear a jeep coming up over the hill and whip past you, while its playing 'paint it black' from the stereo...definately a nice touch). Gameplay is good, graphics are good, , fun factor is there and seems to be getting better the more I play it.

I think it'll grow on me :)

I played the painkiller demo, I didn't really care for it. I thought it looked good and whatnot, but that was about it.

Actually, the more I'm playing BF: Vietnam, the less I'm actually liking it

Why? I think the main thing is that with the control points scattered around everywhere and with no need to take the points in any specific order, there isn't really a 'frontline' to the battle. Strategy in this game is lacking. Instead you get people camping spawn points and people sniping in really weird spots. Any game that promotes and encourages spawn camping gets a fat thumbs down IMO. Part of this is due to map design as well, and may well be fixed in the future.

A small gripe for me is that air vehicle controls seem to basically require a joystick to do it well. I do have an old joystick lying around I think, but I really wish it was easier to control with a mouse/keyboard.

And one of my biggest gripe of all...the weak weapon sound effects. Now the music in the game is awesome, and the overall vehicle sounds and ambient sounds are good. But weapon sounds are way to quiet, and the footstep noises when running are near silent as well.

Now BF: Vietnam may be great later as a possible springboard for future mods...but as of right now, I'm not as impressed as I should be.

The reviews for BF:Vietnam were less than fantastic. Most gave it a 7 or 8 out of 10.

I also got BFV... It's not a bad game. The air vehicles could be a little easier to control, but you can't expect that. My version wont do MP so... it will get boring F-A-S-T.

You should get a program called "Alcohol 120%" It allows you to have .cue files mounted onto imaginary cd drives so that way you never have to burn them. Can you get yours to work online?

yes it works online except for the fact that it needs the original copy (Disc 1) to run, and the only way i can get past that is with a thingy.

WHAT THE HELL????

you guys need to buy the games and pay the companies who worked hard building it. this is what keeps these companies around making games so we can have fun. this isnt the music industry and think you are robbing the community. downloading illegal games is just bs and they give you the oppurtunity to play a demo before you buy. what more can you ask for?
