Just wondering, where do I go to change my monitor from 60Hz, to something else?? The lights we have here in the office at work are florescents and when they flicker, the monitor goes black and then comes back up. I talked to a guy about it and he said that could be because they both are 60Hz. Also, ya think if I changed it to something else, it would help the problem?

Thanks!

right click on your desktop and select properties. Select settings tab then Advanced. Then go under the monitor tab. I usually use 85Hz.

No, but it has been suggested somewhere before that if you are lucky enough to have a system that can give you higher frame rates than 60 fps (and thus smoother play), it would be wasted if the monitor is only refreshing at 60 Hz.

It will not change the framerates, but it changes how fast your monitor refreshes the pixels. If you have a setting of 60hz and you can lock it to 100hz, you will see and feel a huge difference! You may have to make your mouse sensitivity less, to compensate for the change, but it is worth it!

I stick with the optimal setting on mine.
Usually around 75 to 85 mhz I think.

Well I changed the refresh rate, but the dam thing keeps flickering. I hear that we are suppose to get a diffferent puter up here, something faster then 400MHz. I think we are getting a 650 wooooo aahhhhhhh (POS!)

Could it be something with the vid card starting to go?? It flickers everytime the lights flicker.

It could be the Video card, bad power source or the monitor on the fritz

No, 98, not sure if it is SE or not. The newer one we suppose to be getting will have (it better!) XP Pro.

If the monitor flickers every time the lights flicker, maybe it has to do with that? Any electricians out there in GameMecca land?

There may be a short somewhere in the line.
I am no electric man though

If there was a short, then something would have went. Maybe the monitor is going out, then we can push for a flat screen!! :D
