I'm never EVER gonna buy another Maxtor HD for the rest of my life. Today I lost the second one (which was a replacement for the 1st) within 1 year. The damn thing is probably still under warrenty too, but I DON'T CARE! I don't want another one. EVER!

And no I'm NOT gonna get a free replacement anyway and send it to one of you. :P

MAXTOR CAN KISS MY ASS!

I spend the whole night reformatting and reinstalling when I could have been totally wasting my time here on the forums.

Ouch !!! It sucks to be you dude :P :D

I thought Maxtor were pretty good drives but I guess you never know. I hear Western Digitals are pretty reliable. I have two IBMs but some people have had bad luck with those also.

No problems here also. Pretty reliable I'd say. Guess just bad luck on your part. They carry a 3 year warranty, I think.

I use only WD drives, but I think that all brands crap out though.

Seagate also makes good drives. I have 1 Seagate and 2 Maxtors and never had any problems with them.

I have only had problems with seagate drives.
I will never buy one again
Stick with WD

Don't tell me that! I just bought a Seagate 7200 RPM 80gig drive. So far I've lost a Maxtor and a Western Digital. It sounds like its just a big crap shoot.

The ones I had probs with were the 40gb 7200 ones.
Veey very slow load times.
It took 3 hours for it to format

IBM is getting sued over the failure rate for there hard drives, I got me a maxtor now, and will get another one for raid on my next rig, the IBM will be a back up drive for this 1gig, I'm on now, I got a new 16 DVD drive two days ago and am having issues getting the rebate, and I won't be getting another sound blaster product.........

Hello,

I had a 250GB replaced by Maxtor in October 2004. Now the replacement is failing. I am in the process of recovering my data. I'm thankful for Handy Recovery!!! Honestly, I'm not looking forward to receiving the Maxtor replacement drive again, because I don't trust Maxtor anymore. Does anyone know where I can get a "Maxtor Sucks!" T-Shirt?

Thanks! Eric

Tell them you want a check made payable to Western Digital instead.
