Ive had enough of the "i owned" "i rule" attitude it ****ing stinks.

These are just games, some people here need to get a life.

I am leaving MERC, i will delete my tag now, its 5:45pm GMT.

Yep, I've viewed it (3 times now) and I can't understand why quit, Stand back a while and catch your breath then decide. If you've done that then the best of luck and I'll catch you in a game, it doesn't matter to me whether your in a clan or sole player you're still the same person I talk too :D

Besides, I rarely leave a game like that anyway, but it happens. :)

I personally have never played using a dial up, I have cable, but even then I get f9ed a lot. I don't want to consider what it would be like on a dial up. The fact is, you can't handle that I have owned you and your brother Nick. So shut your trap. I am on dial up, and I have seen you come in to games and leave many times after I killed you. If I leave a game it is because I am on dial up and I lag way more then you. Certain maps and people lag me out depending on there connection and settings. It has nothing to do with being owned. If I am not able to play my best with my current connection, then I will leave. What is your excuse? :angry:

200-220 is an average latency for me and good enough I find to get the job done. :D

no what&#39;s really funny is how some people ping so low they might as well be on the server,,,, and how I can be running at 70fps and see one screen with a guy running by me,,,,,,, most the games I see lowest ping wins, and f9&#39;s are not the only way to get booted from a game,,,,, people need to bust out with the old 56k and run it for a few days to see,,,, this is not directed at you,,,, but all the netcode sucks and it almost always depends on ping who wins

This is an old argument, but ping is only one aspect of what makes someone competitive. Some people have awesome connections and still suck.

Myself I am fortunate because I have an acceptable (for me) connection.

Actually I learned something interesting today. Ping and bandwidth only go hand in hand to an extent. So even though my ping may say 330, that is only the time it takes in milliseconds to make a loop back to me. However, my bandwidth is still only 52kps/down and about 30kps up. So here is an example, lets say the closest server is about 50 miles from your house which is on a backbone to Atlanta. Well if you are on dial up the latency just to that server would be about 130ms. (this is just sending a ping to it of like 5 packets, not playing a game) Now the same scenario with dsl, would yeild about a 5ms latency to the server on the backbone. So even before a person on dial up gets to their isps backbone server they have about 125ms latency disadvantage. Not to mention the bandwidth disadvantage of packet handling when playing a game online. So even though I am going to be getting a higher speed connection next week, I will always feel for the people who will have to play on dial up.

Actually I learned something interesting today. &nbsp;Ping and bandwidth only go hand in hand to an extent. &nbsp;So even though my ping may say 330, that is only the time it takes in milliseconds to make a loop back to me. &nbsp;However, my bandwidth is still only 52kps/down and about 30kps up. &nbsp;So here is an example, lets say the closest server is about 50 miles from your house which is on a backbone to Atlanta. &nbsp;Well if you are on dial up the latency just to that server would be about 130ms. (this is just sending a ping to it of like 5 packets, not playing a game) &nbsp;Now the same scenario with dsl, would yeild about a 5ms latency to the server on the backbone. &nbsp;So even before a person on dial up gets to their isps backbone server they have about 125ms latency disadvantage. &nbsp;Not to mention the bandwidth disadvantage of packet handling when playing a game online. &nbsp;So even though I am going to be getting a higher speed connection next week, I will always feel for the people who will have to play on dial up.

Yes, I agree with everything you&#39;ve said. It&#39;s just that the paragraph that you wrote, explaining ping and latency, was making me think too much. I wasn&#39;t trying to disagree with you in anyway.
There are 3 things that make a "great" player: Connection, System, Skills. (in that order)
Playing as the server can make a huge difference too, at least it did for me. I can&#39;t be a server now, because my router has a firewall in it, and I don&#39;t want to get rid of it.
