I know some of you are just salivating to get your hands on a new nForce2 chipset motherboard. The people over at AnandTech (http://www.anandtech.com/) has posted a 40 page review (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1759) of six nForce2 motherboards. They also included two other motherboards (KT333 and KT400) to compare against. The review is very detailed and a long read, But loaded with great information to help you make a decision. By looking at the benchmarks, It appears they were well worth waiting for!

Hello Santa, Are you listening? :)

That would be Great! That's one of the boards they used to. Start another thread and give us all the goods when you are ready. Please! :)

They used a Gigabyte 7VAXP (KT400-DDR333) & Epox 8K5A2+ (KT333-DDR333) to compare those chipsets against the nForce2.
The testing results start on this page. LINK (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1759&p=33)
Of course, Those chipsets didn't do as well as the nForce2s did. ;)

I'm sorry Sauron, I forgot about the tight budget part.
Just to use the Epox as an example:
Epox 8RDA $99 US LINK (http://www.tcwo.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=2750&sid=1gi2Ty0l3A5QCpX)
Epox 8RDA+ $108 US LINK (http://www.tcwo.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=2749&sid=1gi2Ty0l3A5QCpX) (adds Integrated IEEE1394 (Firewire) Support & Integrated Realtek 10/100 LAN)

Also, I only used TCWO as an example because they carry both the 8RDA & 8RDA+ and because they list the differences between the two models. Check prices on your favorite site on whatever brand you decide to go with, Personally I use Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com/) since i'm in the US.

Hell yah! It's always good to get an end-users take on it. Is yours with Serial ATA? I thought I had read at Asus' site that it is an option, but not on all those boards. What speed RAM are you using? Proc? We must know!!

I use the same board. I have the deluxe version with serial ata RAID, Dolby 6.1 APU and FireWire, along with two NIC's integrated and USB 2.0. I am running 512 of Corsair PC2700 XMS Memory (the crazy overclocked memory with heatsinks on it) and an XP2400+.

I think that Whocares rig is almost exactly the same as mine. I love it.
Runs like a dream.

That's nice stuff, all the 'shootouts' I've read really like the Nforce2 chipset boards. I've got an Asus A7V333, with 512 of Crucial 2700, and an 1800+. I've got a Maxtor 7200 ATA 133 drive, so there isn't enough motivation there to get an SATA setup, but it is nice. I hope this board will last me until I want to get a 64-bit model.

This board and the rest of my rig has to last me a loooooong time. At least a year. I have the Maxtor 80GB ata133 myself. Once I get the FX card, I won't be able to afford any more new 'toys' for quite some time... :bawling:
