Does anyone, I say, ANYONE...know how to get around a router when trying to host? I have 2 PC's and my PS2 all connected, so of course I buy a router. But, when I try to host, I gets no luv. Everyone can see me, but no one can join. Does anyone know what port UT2003 runs on!? Is it as simple as enabling that port number? Any input/help would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to think that I can't host due to that stupid thing.

I'm not sure, But try these:
Server ports
7777 UDP (port game runs on) Game port
7787 UDP (port game runs +10) Listen port
28902 Master Browser Server List (Not sure which, try both TCP & UDP)

Please let us know if these work or not.

I will try those tonight when I get home from work. Thanks, and I will let you know what I come up with.

if that dont work try to set up the DMZ option which opens all ur ports but dont forget to disable that option again when u are done with hosting and run a software firewall too when using DMZ option

I was just about to suggest that. Also if you are just hosting on that box even if someone hacks you it's not too big a deal.

I am not familiar with that option. Can you tell me more? Is that one of the Dedicated Server options?

This site Practically Networked (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/) has some good info on networking and explains about firewalls LINK (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/firewall.htm).

I don't think the makers of UT2K3 have ever issued a offical port list, So they didn't you help too much there either.

Shogun, you are the master. Those links are GREAT! The best part about it is, my router is on the list of routers that can be configured with port ranges and DMZ's and other great stuff. Hopefully tonight my headache will be gone and I can contribute even more to my clan.

Thanks! :D

Also, with my router, I can go into the configurations and tell it to open ports and such. It has a firewall in it. I tried setting up a server for a friend of mine to join, I used serious runner to set it up, and I opened sam up, and I couldn't even see it. I know some routers (not sure if all or not) you can go to http://192.168.0.1 in IE and you should be able to make some changes. I can, just haven't tried it, too lazy I guess lol

Might want to check that out. B)

The Machine, Gimmy and Shogun! I would like to invite you to my 'test' host this evening. I think that I have my router configured and ready to go. I won't be hosting too long, I have to call it an early night, but if you guys are interested look for =MH=, the password will be DOA.

Thanks again for all the help that you guys have given me.

Thanks Dissectional :) , But I haven't played UT2K3 in over month maybe longer so I'm gonna have to sit this one out.
Please come back and tell me how it ran though.

It didn't. I configured a DMZ, I opened ports, I did everything I could think of. Musashi told me he couldn't join, I don't know if he is just impatient or if I really can't host. Whatta drag...I don't know what to do. I am out of ideas, short of ripping out the router and trying something different.

I don't know if this will help, but to get my local network through my firewall I had to open Remote TCP and UDP Ports 7777-7788 AND Remote TCP and UDP Port 28902. Needed both of these definitions.

I don't use a router. That's why I stayed out of this. I use two nic cards and XP's ICS. I also use Nortons Personal Firewall. I had to force open the above ports (saw on some UT3 board) so that Devilish could connect via my network. My PC is the gateway. My PC does the same functions as a router.

  Really pisses Devilish off when I re-boot unannounced...hehehe

I am using a Linksys BEFSR41 ver.2

According to one of the links that you gave me, it should be a snap. I did notice last night that I had made a configuration mistake, and I have corrected that. I am going to try again sometime this weekend.
