Anybody played Baldur's Gate on PS2? My wife and I play it all the time, and we like the way it handles multiplayer. It allows us both to play as a party, and we don't have to put up with the split screen. Are there any other games that play like this? I want to buy at least a couple more :)

It is much better than the previous AC games.

Man I haven't played a good RPG in a long time. I guess the pickings have been slim lately. <_<

I think that the FF series has blown the competition out of the water.

Good point 666. It doesn't help that the latest rage for awhile was the FPS games...but I think the RPGs are making a comeback.

Wild Arms 3? I thought those were pretty good, and Xenosaga is just around the corner...

Xenosaga isn't going to be a traditional RPG. I believe it will have the same gameplat as Kindom Hearts.

I really hope not. I didn't care for Kingdom Hearts at all, but I have enjoyed Zelda, and the Mana series.
I guess deep down I like the turn based RPG's.

It is absolutely beautiful. The best RPG I have ever played.

I put 99 hours into it, and could have put even more in. The sphere grid that you use to gain ability and levels was pure masterpiece.

You thought the Shere Grid was a masterpiece? It was alright, but it had some serious flaws in it.

Rivers

I agree it was alright but flawed. Whatever happend to "you find a white wizard and they learn whit magic, black with black, a knight and he only has pyscial attacks and so on" I understood that may leave you with a lack of deapth in a fighting system but it worked for me! :D I put 150 hours into FFX and I haven't touched that game in months. I just would build up when I was bored my Tidus and Yuna can do no more on the grid.

Well Zelda will probably be great, but the graphics remind of a game "Parappa the raper" (Something called like this). The guy responsible for graphics in Zelda was also working on Parappa... I wonder how community will react for this game (When it's released of course).

Ya i know about that, but i'm still wondering, because yesterday I took a trip to Best Buy. They had Link to the past for Game Boy Advance, and all the copies were there. Didn't think it was that good 'cause nobody bought it, so i skipped it over.

Zelda isn't an RPG. It is an action-adventure type game. :P

OK...you guys like to define RPG in your own way. I am just taking the literal definition:

You go into a dungeon as a Dwarf Fighter, a Human Archer, or an Elven Sorceress. This is your ROLE
This is a game, so you are PLAYING it.
...and if you're playing it...it's a GAME

Now...how the f*ck has the definition been altered beyond that?

Technically there are very few actualy RPGs....under your terms playing Serious Sam is an RPG

I've played the console version of Baldurs Gate, its not an RPG...sure you can choose who you play and so forth but thats not playing a role is it? Thats just deciding to be one of the 3 classes then hacking the cr*p out of everything in the game....Baldurs Gate 1+2 on the PC were true RPG's (as close to anything on a computer/console could get...and no I never played D&D in real life  ) In those games...you could reallly choose what you wanted to do..also in Fallout you could go into a town and help out the farmers or whatever, or you could choose not to help them and steal or their stuff, or you could just kill everyone in the town....sure you couldnt buy anything there anymore but thats your fault for killing all the farmers! Yeah Fallout probably did it best, you didnt even have to kill the final boss, there was a way around it :w00t:

Final Fantasy VII, its a PSone game but you can play it on PS2 but you will need to buy a PSone Memory as well (although these together will cost less than a PS2 game).

Nothing touches FF VII in my opinion, NOTHING! Its not so much the gameplay (although I enjoy turned based games) but the story that will push you forward. OMG I enjoyed that game too much ;)

The next few months are going to see some unbelievable PS2 RPGs. The top ones will be Xenosaga, .Hack (Dot Hack), EverQuest Online, FFX-2, Breath of Fire, Dark Cloud 2, and .Hack 2 (The sequel is coming out in fall already).

...and yes I did get Gauntlet, and it is the bomb! The graphics suck complete donkey balls, but when you get four players going in a game like this...it's a hoot!
