I picked up Epson's CX5200 today. I ran into a little software snafu.
I couldn't get pictures to upload from my digital camera (in it's usual program FinePixViewer).
I went ahead and uninstalled some of the software for the CX5200, I figured there was a conflict.
But the pics still didn't load up. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the FinePixViewer software, and the pics still didn't load up...so I uninstalled and reinstalled one more time.
Well the pics load up now.....but I've yet to try and do anything with the CX5200...the thing is, the CX5200 has software that found my PenCam files, so why didn't it do the same for the digital camera?

I reinstalled the software for the CX5200. I can print and copy, but I can't get it to scan. It locks up when "initializing scanner", so I end up hitting Ctrl Alt Delete to close it out (there it says "not responding").

Is there anyone out there in Gamemecca land that can walk me through a few steps?
I think I need to uninstall the FinePixViewer software (that came with the camera), and then get the PhotoImpressions software (that came with the printer) to recognize my digital camera that is hooked up with a USB cord.
I also think I need to delete some devices from the Device Manager, there appears to be too many devices listed under the Universal Serial Bus Devices root.

Are you using XP? If so, try just using the MS XP software to grab the pics from your camera.

I'm OLD SCHOOL! :D
I use Windows 98SE. :)

I tried to get my PC to recognize my camera (using the control panel) but "it" only listed KODACK as a choice of cameras...and did not find my FUJI camera. :( :)

You'll probably have to use the software from your camera as long as your on Win98SE. If you go to Win XP, try hooking the camera up and setting it to whatever you need to for transfers and Win XP may find and add it as a storage device. Then you won't need the camera's software.

I'm guessing that the printer's software is scanning for specific picture formats, like JPEG (.jpg), TIFF (.tif), or GIF (.gif). If your camera is saving in a propriety format, the printer may not be able to handle it. If it is in a propriety format, see if you can edit it and save as a standard format, like Jpeg.

As for the scanner, make sure you've gone to Epson's web site and have installed the latest release of thier drivers.

Thanks (again) Death Dude, I e-mailed Epson's support site lastnight. I was shocked..but they actually e-mailed me back today!
They gave instructions to uninstall Twain 5 and Epson printer software and then install Cx5200's drivers only.
The scanner works now......and I am so happy....that I am going to join a SS game and let everyone kill me!!!! :D

*Edit: Oops my bad....thanks to everyone else who responded (too). YOU......COMPLETE....ME............*Sniff...Sniff. .. :( :)
