i just bought the new Beastie Boys CD, "to the 5 boroughs" ( it rocks) and its copy protected, im not trying to copy it to another CD, i just want to move the songs onto my hard drive so i can listen to them long after i loose the CD. the problem im having is when i try to play the CD in windows media player it will play the first 15 seconds or so of each song then freeze up the player. i want it on my computer because i have it hooked through my surround sound system, i guess i could just use my PS2 to play it but thats just a pain in the arse.
i kinda trailed off there, anyways i tried to use alcohol 120% but i couldnt find out what kind of data type (copy protection) it has (eg. Securom, Safedisc ect)
if anyone could tell me where i could find this info that would be super  :ghey:
i hope this doesnt start an argument about warez and s**t because i would hate to have to shoot someone

Use alcohol marker and cover the begining of CD, that is the first ring (with barcode) from inside, this is the way how you get passed over a few million dolar protection. Then when you are finised, you clean CD with alcohol.

haha, there is an even cooler way. All you have to do is put it in a CD player and runa line into your line-in port in the back. Then simply hit the record button  Streaming music is wonderful fun

Agreed This method works well I know I've tried it. Sometimes the song is a little fuzzy but you can hardly nootice it!

I make a copy of every CD that I buy, so I can leave the original at home and take a burnt copy w/ me in the car so I don't ruin an original by accident. ITunes has ripped every CD that I've ever tried (about 80 of them). That is ripping, too, not just making a straight copy.
