nay to zone alarm, unless you want problems later. Spend $40 and get a d link router that has a firewall in it and be done with it. If you have more to spend, get a linksys router. WAY better then zone alarm!
SS, stop looking at the pron!

That I know of, no. Surprised that they haven't invented something that works with dial up yet. But then again, broadband is so popular these days, it doesn't surprised me that they haven't bothered with it.

there are dialup routers out there, but these tend to be either backups for broadband connections, isdn, or business class devices. ie. uncommon and very expensive...

If you are on dial up I also highly recommend you run Norton's internet firewall as well. Since all of your ports are open on dial up you get hit the most with port scans because you have no firewall.

*sigh* now im getting a different one.
i think its from that f**king SP2.
i installed it a couple days ago, found that it sucked, then uninstalled it.
i get the virus alerts when i first log on and am not connected to the internet.

Maybe system restore to before you installed sp2, then update norton and run it.

If you installed and uninstalled SP2, I'm betting that you have now left some ports open by uninstalling SP2. If you had Zone Alarm, at least you have control over everything coming and going on your online connection.
Just my 2 cents!

Man, I the problem with SP2 I've heard, though probably wrong, is that when you install it, it upgrades your encryption level. I think thats right...anyways, and even though you uninstall SP2, you can't reverse the encryption upgrade without probably doign a reformat or at least a fresh install of your copy of WinXP

As long as SP2 has been out, I find it very hard to believe that a good legitimate copy of Symantec/Norton's Anti Virus with the updated current virus definitions is having trouble with files. I know other people that are running both versions of XP with NAV '04 and are not having these problems.
