Does anyone know any free video conferencing apps that work well? We tried AIM, but the firewall won't let it through, and I can't figure out which port to allow to let it...we tried MSN...we get video, but we can't get audio to work...

So basically, are there any freeware options available that would allow video/audio conferencing?

Or, if someone knows what to do to get audio goin' through MSN or audio/video going through AIM, that would work too.

I just tried that one before you posted it, actually. It was a really nice IM, i really liked it, but I still couldn't get video to work.

www.paltalk.com check that out, can view like 6 cams if you pay for it. One on one is streaming though, or it used to be. Been years since I used that program.

I can't get that to do much of anything. I got NetMeeting running, but then it won't connect to the Directory, so I can't see other users, and it doesn't seem to want to connect with anyone else, so that's no good.

How are you connected to the internet? Have you tried connecting with someone else other then your girlfriend?

I'm connected to the internet via a router in my basement, which hooks to the DSL...assumingly, the router isn't allowing the port...my dad has also tried to use audio across MSN, but to no avail...video works fine, but no audio.

I haven't used netmeeting that much, but same thing with the directory, just those that I have on my msn messenger list show up. You need to get the other person's IP addy and put that in and place a call to them. Done that with Bigg many a times, and being behind router I had to place the call rather then him place it, because my router would block his call he was trying to make. As far as the router goes, not sure what ports you'd have to open for the other person to make the call. I haven't ever tried vid or audio 2 way with netmeeting, just used text to communicate back and for, and it was over a computer issue to allow the other to remote control to see and help fix a problem.

If you want to see and hear the other person, I'd really suggest using paltalk and then make sure you have each others name on your pal list. You can make a call to one another, be able to cam and click a button and be able to voice talk.

If that wouldn't work, could always use a program that works with video, and then join a teamspeak server and create your own channel and talk that way.
