This has to be the deal that makes you upgrade to an Athlon64 system. It might not be the 939 chipset but it will still give you the technology built in the Platform. At this price, you can not go wrong since it will make a good gaming rig. Some may say that the socket 754 is old or they are not making any new chips for it but that is not correct.

It has 64 bit Tech.
It's a low budget fast performing setup.
Can be upgraded in the future with faster athlon 64's when they become cheaper.
Has AGP slot so you can still use your old card and not be forced into buying a hyped pci express card which does not offer any performance in reality.

So was it a price mistake or have Athlon 64's come down that much in price?

Well I am thinking of upgrading to 64-bit hopefully before Quake 4 comes out. The specs required to run that game on "decent" settings are pretty steep, 64 bit chips obviously not required, but any vid card less than a 6800 probably will not give you the best performance. So I plan to buy the mobo with the PCI express since it seems to be where things with video card companies seem to be heading.

Basically I want to biuld something that I won't need to upgrade for a while. I make money but not a ton so it might take me a while to get everything. I hope that you Bigg have no hard feelings against me, because I have none against you, and could give me some advice.

just a quick note to exe. they have high end cards for agp still and it has been proven that they are actually faster on the older bus. they will be tweaking the pci express in the future but right now, it's all hype.

to move on, all questions and advice will be answered in the hardware section:thumbs:
