FYI, your prices for both versions of the game are $10 too high.

I think you covered it well, I'm amazed at how you could write that review without hinting at the rage mose SSSE players felt when they tried the demo, you know, the "wtf is this" feeling. ;)

and Rod, even at your prices, that's $25 too much

Even though alot of fans are pissed, it is still a demo and may just be a bad representation of the final product. Once the full game is out, then no punches or praise will be withheld.

Very nice article and I agree with all of your points. Have to wait and see what the final product looks like, but from the looks of the demo I don't have much hope.

Man, I already know this games gonna lead to problems with SS fans.
The life system is crap and it always has been too. Croteam's gotta do something about this.

Nice review. I am waitng to hear about the finished product before I pass judgement. If DM is cheesey, then I will wait another 6 months and pick it up at the $9.99 bargain bin.

I concur with your review of the SS2 demo 100 % Sal !!

Its an accurate, yet unfortunate review. And your review was well detailed and I will add, extremely well written!!

I hope Croteam can somehow get back the Magic, freshness and originality they once had! As this demo seems to be totaly if not extremely lacking in all those past if even seemingly incomplete qualities !!

Hate to say it, but it looks like SS beta time, and seems even worse for the total game as a whole, too bad!!

Too long of a review because plain and simple from a scale 1 to 10 I give it 2.

Horrible game and not worth it at all to play not even for $10. . . .

And so it ends for me with sam. . . .

Back to DAOC and btw WOW reminds me of Mario

So long everyone and wish you all the best. . .

"I posted this in another thread which was intended for this one"

Croteam will be looking to make money from the video card manufacturer's that put this game in thebox along with the other junk games that usually come with the video cards. It can not be looking to make money from regular people. This game will only be respected from people at Rods place. Croteam could of taken a crap on a cd and they would still think it was great:P .

As I said months ago when I saw Rodzilla's video he posted regarding SAM2 and I mentioned I did not see DeathMatch and he argued with me that I was bitching about a game that is months away from being released.

All I can say to Rodzilla is to finally STFU because either you really had no info on the game while it was being built or you are just to arrogant to admit that Croteam sucks. As I said months ago, this company is aiming at the console arena but honestly, I really feel it will fail there also.

YaY, SaM is DeaD
I mean Croteam:thumbs:

I don't know if anyone else knows this, but isn't this the EXACT same thing that happened to Carmgeddon? Once they changed it into a 3d game, everything went downhill: gameplay, models, etc. Hope they learn something from this

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to give it a "2".

For one thing, this game still has a feature that MANY "Ports" are missing these days: save anywhere. I have personally tossed many games that don't allow you save anywhere (FPS's), and have completed only one of that type --Pariah. The fact that Croteam didn't screw up the save feature, and that the game is still fun, makes me give it a 6. And unless a game is just completely, ubertrash, as long as it's *fun* and has *save anywhere*, I'll investigate it. I will only play the absolute BEST Games if they don't have a save anywhere feature. Some recent action RPG (started with a "G" i think, I forgot) only had checkpoints, and when the game CRASHED right before I took 20 minutes to fight my way to a checkpoint......OFF THE HARD DRIVE IT CAME. Sad, as I was actually enjoying the damn game, too.

It isn't classic Sam, for sure, and the HUD graphics are SOOOOO Sonic the Hedgehog, but it is still fun to play. And it still runs pretty well, I might add, on an x850xt-pe @ 1024x768, 6x AA, 16x AF--which, to Croteam's credit, is *better* than how the Geforce Ti 4600 ran SS:2E, which came out during that card's heyday, at the then best settings of 1024x768, 4x AA 8x AF.

So, as a *game*, I'd give it a 7, but as a Sam sequel, a 6.
And no spoilers about 2E yet--I still have barely even STARTED that game's SP...(I beat FE, then got distracted with a bunch of other games).

I'm STILL wondering just how Sam wound up in some "Jetsons" type planet, though....

I really do miss the wide open levels, though. Perhaps the new engine couldnt handle it on today's computers at an acceptable framerate? But Sal's comments about "creative ways to keep Sam on the map" still apply, though...
