x=5...

pythagorean theorem is a^2 + b^2 = c^2, and c is always the hypotenuse (longest side). So if a = 4 and b = 3, then c^2 = 16 + 9 = 25

The square root of 25 is 5.

If you have a TI graphing calculator, I actually have the code to make a program that will just take in a & b and give you c, if you'd like...

Then you'll never have to actually think it through again!

hmm guys, i think you wanna really serious thing to resolve. look:
there are three wises men. but they doesnt knows who is most wise. so they go to king of wises, and ask him for resolution. :hmmm:, hmmm, he sais, its easy. ive got five turbans. three are white, two black. everyone will get one turban of secret color. then youll sit on ground, and you must guess whats colour on your head. oh and you wont see turbans of your two wise friends.

maby my great pic will help you ;)

The cool thing is that the 3, 4 5 triangle will work no matter if it's centimeters, yards, inches, feet or miles. Or any multiple like 6, 8, 10 or 9, 12, 15 it will always form a right triangle. Surveyors and builders have used that long before transits came around to make square corners.

That's true...easiest way to triangulate a 90 degree angle.. :thumbs:

Good point, Goober !! :)
