I really don't understand the whole unlocking thing. I think I might have asked this before, but why are they locked in the first place? :WTF:

So they can sell faster ones for a higher price, It's all about the $$$s ;)

I have unlocked many processors by bridging the L1 traces. I have even thought about this idea in the past and using a meter ohmed out the L1 traces through the cpu to the back of the motherboard. Me and one of my coworkers were going to try this very thing several months ago but lacked the balls to do it. Since it appears to work I will try it next time I have my motherboard out of my case and report back. :thumbs:

That sure looks easier than reconnecting the traces
with a graphite pencil. Shaky hand and all that.
