There were rumors he would not have a seat and would be fired from Mclaren/Mercedes.

I heard that he had a few offers in F1 in 2 tier rides, but didn't want them. So he jumps over to drive one of Gannasi's 3 POS cars, like he is going to have a chance of becoming the series champion in one of those.

Owners points Ganassi's 3 cars as of today:
40 car - 36th in points
41 car - 22nd in points
42 car - 15th in points
