I believe it's been long enough for there to be a thread where everyone reveals the deepest secrets of Sam.. Who was who, fakes, drama, lies, sex scandals, and on and on.. Well, maybe I'm stretching things a bit..

Most of my drama happened on the forums. I rarely talked or got into drama in the game. When people start chatting in-game, I'm was running around scooping up the free kills. ;)

For as long as I have been around I've probably used the fewest aliases when compared to most other players (especially ones with big e-ginas :P) There were times where I was under some heavy critisim for my behavior so I aliased a bit so I wouldn't end up playing flame wars throughout the game.

I once faked a MERC tag with AI. One time I beat DE under an alias which was pretty funny because he asked me who I was and I responed "Your friend ."and he simply said "Whatever". Usually I would only alias and stay the entire game if I won, otherwise I'd leave without saying a thing.

I can't remember all of the names I used (there were about 5) but I could tell you who I wasn't. :D

Meh, you told me about some of the "tweaks" way back when. They weren't cheats or hax. I lost my HD at one point and re-installed without them and never noticed any difference at all. Maybe it helped people with slow connections, I dunno. I've always had a fast connection. If it did help people with slow connections then it was more of an equalizer than a hack. Which was probably a good thing.

It's also interesting that many people spell my name in all caps, as if the the letters themselves stood for something. A good many of these people that do this have been my adversaries in the past. I have used all caps in my tag I think, but never here on the forums.

The only reason I mention this is because I'm watching The Da Vinci Code at the moment, so everything is code to me, lol. It also freaked me out that Nitro chose this moment to quote from the Bible. *chills*

I've been in WCFD, Outlaws, TGR, and Exodus. We've never been in the same clans. Not that it means anything, just an observation.

What I really want to know is about Alexis and Sasha. They just happened to disappear at the time you were banned from GM I think. Were you one or both of them? Something about them was fishy. Alexis became way too good of a player way too fast, and then Sasha started playing noticibly better also. Despite all of Alexis's housing/drug/connection/computer problems, she always seemed to show up and play a very strong game. Particularly in Yodeller and LT, which are the maps I would notice it most.

Heh, I remember first seeing fatal1ty play under those tags and I might have, for a slight second, belived that it was him (I was pretty gullible at the time). I think I got very close to beating him in Hole and I remember what a fun game it was. Eventually I figured out that it was AI and he ressurected some clan so I decided to join for the hell of it. I might have played under Molar1ty (a chemistry term :P) once or twice and I joined their pseudo-clan forums and maybe posted once or twice and even went through the painstaking process of making an original avatar with my alias name animated.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed being "someone else" in a gaming sense. But it was fun only as long as other people who were in the same pseudo-clan played with me. It gets tiring being hundreds of people and it's frustirating to keep changing nicknames. If I could just be me and have my birth given name in the game then maybe it could really define me as a person and not just a character. But the online community is all about anonymity until someone becomes famous, at which point his past doesn't really matter unless it's ressurected in a thread like this.

What I REALLY mean is that if we can just see each other as people, or in this case friends, then we can really expand the boundaries of internet communities. However, for obvious security reasons this would work ideally in a closed community. There would also be a level of involvement that most people would probably not want to involve themselves in. Anonymity counters this and it's why the internet today is the way it is and has been for some time now. It's like a TV you can talk to and people will listen, but in the end a TV doesn't represent reality.

The internet is reality. But it's a different reality, and it doesn't follow the same rules as your day-to-day life. Barring the occasional LAN party or MSN video encounter, most people never really see each other face-to-face. It doesn't mean you can't interact with the people you meet online, and get to know them, and be friends with them. However, the real life interaction is not there. You cannot walk up to someone who has posted a private PM in public and confront them face-to-face. You can't punch someone out over the internet no matter how many people threaten to do this. Different reality, different rules, and accordingly, people act-out differently on the internet. This is undeniable. I'm actually a very reserved and shy person in real life. I would NEVER do or say some of the things I've done here to anyone in RL.

On the internet you will never see what and who someone is like in RL. We can never "just see other people as people".

For Gods sake I'm a 23 year old woman with a 3 year old daughter. I've had you people fooled for 4 years now. The fact that you can't prove that wrong, and can't truly rely on any information I've ever given before, proves my case.

Hacking SS is nothing to be proud of. Nor was a Villian member coming to the Exodus forums and posting a link to the glowing skins. It seems that the best Villains players know all the hacks. I don't even know how to swim from the pool in Hole, although I've done it from the lava accidentally, but if you jump it stops right away.

I'm beginning to get very curious what sort of hacks are stickied in the Villains private forums....

The only thing I've ever used was the /plr_bOnlySam command. That one comes standard with SS.

However, you will not ever see me hiding in a dark corner, I run around and play the whole map constantly. I do not hide or camp, ever. Anyone that knows how I play knows this. It's also why my death count is always so high. And I don't even use the cannon. I hate it, so I dunno WTF you are talking about there.

I have. And it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I got all of the clans in an uproar and got myself my only banning from these forums. What is truly interesting about this was that I knew I could steal the tags from the log, but I decided to do them all by hand just to see if I could. I did Outlaws, TGR, DOA, and a few others. I don't have screenshots, and I think the ones on the forums got lost many updates ago. I think my work (and the resulting ban) speaks for itself. :P Good times.

EDIT: I should note that I did not impersonate anyone. Just copied the tags and put Death Engineer after them.

when you use light bulb model and you happen to be looking in a corridor and see a glowing area move in one direction, then that is a cheat. It could have been done as a brightskin, which make the textures visible, but to have an area larger than the actual player glowing, that is a cheat.

We use the lightbulb which makes a Kleer visible when it is trying to blend into a dark wall so, I guess that could be construed as cheating but I personally don't think it is. We know about most if not all the other hacks but we don't use them.

Supposedly Nitro created Alexis SC430 and SashaNKVD. Since they both often played together in the same game, I have to assume AI was playing the part of Sasha. Who knows.

Untrue, no one ever knew who she was, honest to god, i think she died. She never came back, i was probably the player who played with those two the most, i was the one who trained them. I never thought once alexis was nitro, i am one of the few people nitro wouldnt lie to about this game :P

"Oh, everyone uses it" is not an excuse for hacking. I used the kleer skin because it was my favorite. Thus I modeled my avatar after it. However, you will not ever see me hiding in a dark corner, I run around and play the whole map constantly. I do not hide or camp, ever. Anyone that knows how I play knows this. It's also why my death count is always so high. And I don't even use the cannon. I hate it, so I dunno WTF you are talking about there.



Maybe you have skill Huggy, and maybe you use hacks. We'll never know, will we? But you guys sure seem to know all the tricks.

In my oppinion the flare hack is a cheat, its a flair, so basically its an unfair advantage over other players. I have never used it, never need to, i still was an exceptionally well player. I hate anyone who uses it, i was told abotu it by nitro far far before they were uploaded, and few people knew about them, honestly i took it off after one game, its a cheat and thats that.

Well about the whole hacking thing, I think the issue is debatable. Anything that gives an unfair advantage to a player is cheating. But according to huggy's logic if everyone is aware of it then it's ok as long as it doesn't give too much of an advantage.

After all if a player wishes to get better at the game then they should be able to use anything directly at hand to give them an advantage. This is why brightskins are incorporated into almost every "professional" shooter. I myself use full shadows and the plr_bsamonly command which helps in fnding campers. I belive that anything that goes beyond that is cheating.

Think about it this way. Assuming that Croteam wanted to make a balanced multiplayer mode for SS:SE then they would decide on which commands would be accessible during online play and which would not. So we have a vanilla version of SS:SE DM where you can only change and input a limited amount of things.

Having the flare hack would probably best work in a mod or a seperate "hacks allowed" server. Mods and alternative serves are for people who are tired of the tactic and gameplay trends that dominate the vanilla version of a game. So have a mod that has the flare hack would make sure that the gameplay would focus mostly on combat. I think that camping can be useful and "legal" if it's not overused. Players low on health should camp a bit to make sure that the enemy does not see them and then run out and get health. Camping can also be used to sneak on on players when you only have your spawn weapons and backstab them.

The majority of people who use hacks such as aimbots and wallhacks, are kids who download them off of websites because they keep getting owned in CS and are tired of it. Oh, and the myg0t delinquents. Hey, it's your game, you bought it (hopefully) so you can do what you want in it. You can choose to not obey a server's rules if you please, but you might get banned from that server in the future since most good servers have rules against people having an unfair advantage voer others.

Now there's a story! For the record, I was not Alexis, nor was I Sasha. Nano (Smile) and Fastway (Yummy) were in her little clan which she called GGaM (Good Girls and Milk)

Yes, it was a female. I know this because of her responces to things I would say and talk about. For example, guys do not strongly express shock/disbelief and mild anger when you tell them you use Neuro Linguistic Programming on girls in order to get them into bed. No man, not even if he is chemically imbalanced, acts like this, at least in my experiences. She also was very willing to meet up with 110111011 but binary dude declined this offer (they live quite close). I was also the first person she met in Sam land so I could understand there being a misunderstanding about me being her or vice versa.

Towards the end of my days playing Sam the true identity of Alexis was THE burning question of the game (I remember a huge thread at Campers forums about it). I played with Alexis almost daily starting when "she" came on the scene and "she" never played like a raw Sam noob. I saw her go from a very decent player I could handle and beat with my reckless high body count/no defense shotty game to a fairly dominant player who could beat me easily (just one of many players to make that leap over me in skill :P ).

Since we played at similar times (I played the graveyard shift often) "she" brought up where we lived and said she lived close by. After that "she" started to hound me to meet during games and I said no initially. But after a while others were asking me to meet her as well because they were dying to get confirmation if Alexis was real. I was actually starting to get a bit PO'ed about it and that's generally not easy to do.

Anyway I did chat with Alexis via IM's and offer a public place meeting to see if the offer to meet was a bluff..."she" never followed through with scheduling anything.

After that I assumed Alexis was likely an alias. Since the rise of skill for Alexis seemed to coincide with an improvement in your Sam screenies that ended up with you collecting perfects on a regular basis and joining Campers, I always figured you were Alexis.

My theory was you used that name to experiment and learn without the pressure of tags. As a bonus you got to make some damn funny posts...and you've always liked forum drama. :P

As to the few times I saw you and Alexis in the same place or screenies showing that, given the amount of aliasing games (fake clans, people using other people's screen names, etc.) that were going on at the time, I wrote it off to someone helping you.

Still to this day I couldn't say I'm sure, since from my chats I was convinced that Alexis was female...but then again who's met you in person Nitro? :D

I had a similar bit occur with Alexis. At one point we were chatting in game and she said that she had some questions about god knows what regarding ssam. So she came up with the idea to call me. On a side note I live on the east coast while she claims to live on the west, so we had no intentions of meeting each other in person. So she made the call, I picked up, said "Hello" and I heard my voice on the other side of the line (which kinda lead me to belive that she did live far away), but Alexis or whoever it was never responded and just hung up. Later on she caught up to me and said that I sounded "scary" and "too old" so she hung up.

We chatted on MSN on a few occasions. Her display picture clearly showed a photograph of a girl in her twenties so after that I pretty much though that she was female. She seemed like a very nice and intelligent person.

A couple months ago I was playing with an aliasing female player and she mentioned Alexis. She said that she received an e-mail from her that said that Alexis wasn't doing too well and she was constantly on the move and posted from cyber cafe's or something along those lines. I personally don't think that we will ever see Alexis again, she definitely brought a spark to the ssam community and I kinda miss her.

Concerning the flare hack - I must say that I have lost a bit of respect for anyone that uses it. Has SS degraded to the point that almost everyone uses these cheats? Maybe I'm just being naive here, but my feelings are that something that was not provided with the game, and gives you an unfair advantage over another player, is a cheat. Plain and simple. Jiminator has already shown in this thread how using the flare hack can show you where a player is without actually being able to see the player. I assume that the flare can be used on any skin, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was being used on all skins by those who don't consider this to be a cheat.

The shadows are not a cheat as Huggy says. Anyone can set full shadows - it is a simple setting from the options menus in the game. And I don't even use the full shadow setting because I find it rather distracting. That's just my preference.

I would have preferred that people would have just turned their gamma setting up a bit to be able to see into the shadows, but it sounds to me like the flare hack has become an irrevocable fact of life in the game now. But hey, everyone cheats, so it's not really a cheat, right? :rolleyes:

I have no problem using any of the provided skins. In fact I think I'm using the sam skin now, but I'm not sure because I use the sam-only feature of the game, and it shows me using the sam skin in the options menu. How to get 100000/0 perfect in ANY map:

Start a server with any map you want. Make sure you get all the health and armor and such . Red Station and Yodeller are my personal favorites for this.
In Yodeller, go under the map or just be careful to not get killed.
Then, lets say you have 30/0, hit the Esc button and click on Save Game in the main menu.
You will be saving a network game. IMPORTANT: only save it if there is noone in the server.
If someone is in the server, kick them so you can save the network game adn then load it with no problems.
Save as often as you can when you are the only person in the server.
Then, when yuou want to stat up a server with you at 1400/0 frags, just click on Network, and then click on Load network game
This will load your server and network game. Anyone who comes in will run in fear of you!!
These are genuine frags and by no means manipulated.
But there is one thing, seeing this is a saved game.. you can have as many tries as you like to get a perfect score.. and also you need a lot of Patience..

EDIT: This whole concept of a male impersonating a female isn't all that original. A couple months before I joined a similar thing happened to a euro player named Dragon Freeze who also pretended to be a girl. I would have taken advantage of the situation if I was you. You could have sold virtual items on ebay at a decent price without you having to pay a thing for them. All it takes is something I like to call "social engineering"

It depends. On a map like Compound, its utter crap. On a map like the Lost Tomb, its good because the map is soo small and the range ofthe radar is not that far so it cannot pick up people at a wide distance on the other maps. That guy who made the radar several years back never fixed that little error. It's basically only beneficial if there's only one or two other people in the map and they are camping.

Sounds like u've had some really funny times Nitro. Someone asked why u would put so much time in planing things like u did. Why dont that person ask himself why he plays this game ? i would guess its the same answer to both.

Shotgunmaniac and huggy : everyone have the same opportunities in Sam, so why would u need a program or whatever the lightbubble thingy is to get an advantage ? excuses could be that U dont have enough time to play the game as other ppl do, that u dont wanna spend so much time becomming one of the best ?

And to a sidenote to this, i found the shadows very usefull at many times.

I did try some of the best players that played both with tag and in alias, i dont remember once even whinning or leaving cause he was better than i, and it didnt make ME wanna search google for cheats or addons(call it what u want).

I dont have any phat tales to tell, i've used alias's but never to compare with what your telling. Used another name in game for 3 weeks at longest, but when ppl i trusted asked who i was, i always told.
