I would just uninstall, reboot and reinstall. I've been using 11 since it came out with no problems.

Do you get an error message that states Windows Explorer has experienced problems and is shutting down? And if so, did you read the mod version that was causing the error?

Hmm strange problem, you got it also with music files?
One thing I suggest is using VLC-player, runs almost everything and is for free ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html ), but indeed won't solve your problem.

Sounds like you have a dx issue. Have you run the dx utility? You may need to reinstall it and see if that works. Check to see if your video drivers and chipset drivers are up to date.
Another problem can be with your music directory. If you have a specific library you made need to go through it and look to see if you have a corrupt file in there. The problem can be Media player is trying to account for all your music and it is either caching too much or trying to read a specific directory with corrupt date. Both will crash your system.
