i got a
"socket 1300 error 10061 WSAECONNREFUSED" error thing again, and i admit i dont remember how to fix it. i thought i did and tried numerous things, but of course they didnt work >>
Will comeone help me out a little bit?

yes its been done. but maybe ONE MORE TIME it will work? seirous sam has caused more problems now than its worked, just when i wanted to get back into it (MAYBE, sorta)

Serious sam has sometimes some strange problems and the only way to fix it is to install it on a different location.

So normally it's ...Croteam/SeriousSam-secondencounter... etc.

Just change the name of Croteam into something like Croteam2. Sounds stupid but worked for me several times with different problems.

patch IS installed (thought that was the problem the first time, guess not)
directory WAS changed. does not even include "croteam" anymore
Firewall: configured (failed), turned off (failed), turned on (hey look at that, now UT2K4 works!)

It wont let me uninstall again. theres no setup/unins file in the serious sam bin, and whenever i put the disc in, it tells me i need to install it (though i can click on the game and play though)

^^^^May this have something to do with the problem, maybe?

or, is it Vista!?

yeah ive used routers for quite a while. i checked it just to be sure though, and it wasn't (sure enough) that.
uac was already disabled. wasnt it

I even ran it in xp settings just in case.
hmmm. i think i may know what the problem is though....

...It stll makes sense though. The double negative is used to be more effective than saying it plain out correctly.

But don't worry. I have a nasty problem of not making myself clear at times...
