Need help. Transfer DvD to my PC

Hey guys. My mother got a new DvD camcorder the other day and we're having trouble transfering it from disk to the PC. We can view it just fine through Windows Media Player, but we cant seem to save the file so we can edit it. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do here or if there's any program I'm supposed to be using? I have vent if it's easier for anyone to explain there........

Google a program called DVD Decrypter. You should be able to dump the files onto your HD with that. Then google another program called DVD Shrink.
