The company I work for is thinking about using it for 2 riggs. My concern is how bad will it slow the PC's down, security and will the company stay in business.

Well I guess it's the way things will go but I wouldn't like to do it!

I haven't used companies of this type mainly because I'm the anal type that wants more control in how often different parts of my machine get backed up.

For example, I like daily copies of my source code that I'm working on daily for obvious reasons (I don't like losing even a single days work). But most of the stuff on my machine can stand a monthly backup.

I have found that by just buying hard drives, I can just copy the files natively on our network (or via VPN) and it is fast enough and the data sets are small enough that it isn't that much of a pain. I run them via scheduled tasks at night. It's not the most brilliant plan as it isn't doing incremental back ups or anything like that. But it works.

My other suggestion would be to use a versioning system like SubVersion for files that you work with alot. It has saved my butt so many times, I can't even count them anymore. Being able to revert to an older version or to tell what changed between two files, whatever they are (source code, Words docs, etc) is invaluable. TortoiseSVN is an excellent windows client.

That's my 2 cents worth (and thensome).

right now, we back up on flash sticks at the end of the day and the owner takes them home, we need a off site type of back up.

What is the total size of the files you put on the flash sticks?
