There are musicians good enough to play this kind of stuff live.

I just went to a show and this band played live, I've never been so blown away in my life. Everything sounded exactly the same.

Share your opinions about todays metal :)

It's a shame for music, one of todays finest forms of art, to blow me away?

I can't sing, but I'm pretty sure that I can make a monster noise too!

The instrumentals are hawt, but why even add those vocals? lol Ok in all seriousness, it's definitely not my type of music, but I'm honestly curious as to what is the appeal of his voice? Do you growl along when you're listening? I'm not bashing, I'm just really wondering since you're a fan. I mean even old school metal had some sort of 'singing'.........

Well in all honesty, when my friend turned me onto that type of metal I never liked the vocals at all. I despised them, but I couldn't help but LOVE the music, It's so fast and so brutal, It's everything I've ever wanted to hear. I guess the vocals are just something you get used to,like beer. No one likes beer the first time they drink it, it's an aquired taste, just like todays metal vox:)

But after a while you get used to the vocals, and they start to play just as a important role as the music. Believe it or not..It's actually REALLY hard to make those kind of growls/screams. If you just got accepted into a death metal band with no experience at screaming/growling, your gonna look and sound really lame.

@Clean - I think you've drank too much clean today for me to get your innuendos :P

Haha, not really out of the loop,

Grindcore focuses more on being CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY,

Death metal focuses more on bringing brutal/melodic shit to the table.

Examples of grindcore found here

Music has always been a matter taste. That's why I almost never bother to post any of the music I like because chances are someone will hate/not understand it and will bash it... a la Clean.

I totally know where you are coming from and I agree with you.

However, at the same time you do have to admit that Death Metal is probably one of the hardest niche genres there is to try and get someone to give a listen to.

Hell, you'd have to admit it'd prolly be easier to find 10 people willing to give a listen to a CD of bad 80's Japanese power ballads than those who would give a go at a CD of Death Metal.

And understand, I'm never gonna sit here and tell you it sucks or you suck for listening to it. To each thier own and all. But still you gotta admit what I'm sayin is true. :)

Ha, you're definitley right.

But I just see it as everyone should take something new with an open mind, instead of trying to find the bad in it.

Well if you feel that somehow death metal speaks to you and evokes some sort of emotion then chances are you will like it. If not you will probably be indifferent and avoid it or HATE it.

Into Death metal huh? Name the town and state that it started in. Name 3 of the first ones to hit the scene and the recrd label they were on.

Here is a hint. Bingo knows the town very very well.

I don't remember exactly where it actually started, but I do know that it was formed out of thrash metal sometime in the early 80's, maybe 83?

I think some of the earliest bands, that started or were part of the start were bands like, DEATH, Morbid Angel, Possessed, and Master..they were the ones that started cranking things up a bit, I know in 85, Possessed released their first album " Seven Churches ". I think I still have it in one of my cd cases, but I fail to know the actual record label.

I'm definitely a metal head, but I have to say that this was comical in my opinion. Good metal actually requires some semblance of a coherent melody and a singer that has good vocal range. Being able to play a few notes really fast on guitar, then switching to random drum banging, all tied together with a vocalist that drinks bleach on a daily basis doesn't make a good metal band.

0/10

I wasn't bashing the music. I think it's great he finds passion in music. Hell, most people do. Sometimes there is nothing better than a CD with your favorite tracks playing.

Lol I could listen to that song all day long without getting a headache.. It's all a matter of taste.. Some people in this thread prefer slow, melodic metal where you can actually understand the vocals, and some prefer harder stuff with hardcore growls, a double bass and ultra fast riffs..

Btw - pls go easy on me - older people usually prefer oldschool.. ;)
