Ever since I installed my router I can not host a game or enable the voice chat feature on msn. It is a Netgear. Not sure the model number. I can post that later. For the setup of the router you have to go to an address on the internet and set your settings. I can post a screenie of the options later this evening if that would help.

you also need to check your port triggering.....If you do not open the port which is 25600.....No one can get in....I had this problem on my linksys router.....

DMZ = Demilitarized Zone. Stands for a port which is unprotected by NAT translation and firewall protection. It is used to place PC's/servers outside your network

Machine I have the Linksys, But if you will provide the model # of the Netgear router you have, I'll download the PDF of the manual to see if I can help. Baciscally what you need to find out is the IP for the machine you wish to use as a server and you need to know what ports you need to forward.

On the Linksys there should be two screens, One called DHCP. Click on the DHCP Clients Table button and it will give you the IP of the machines connected. (example. 192.168.1.100) Select the one you want to use and make a note of the IP. Go the Advanced tab, Then there is another screen called Forwarding. Enter the IP on the machine and the port range and which protocols (TCP & UDP) you wish to use. Now this is for the Linksys and the Netgear should be simuliar to it.

About DMZ, It's the easiest way to go, But you opening all ports and totally defeating the firewall protection. IMO it's not the way to go.

For Sam I use a port range of 25600-25603 with both TCP and UDP. These were to ports and protocols from SS FE v1.0. I've just never changed them to the new ones. I think all you need to use is 25600 and the UDP with v1.07. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know too.

Here is a link to a site that has the port listings for several programs. It's getting a little dated, But is still good. http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/app_port_list.htm

i maybe wrong, but if you do only a port forwarding your server wont show up in gamespy or sam...players have to connect over ip :?: :!: :?:

That's all I use and it can be seen on the Sam servers list, ASE and Gamespy.

The option to make the server not visible in the Server Setup Options of Sam determines if it can be seen by the Sam servers list, ASE and Gamespy.

It won't show up right away on ASE or Gamespy for some reason. It takes awhile for it to showup on them, Like an hour or so. It will showup right away in the Sam server list in the game.

[size=18:903070b9f6][b:903070b9f6]Don't do this unless you need to:[/b:903070b9f6][/size:903070b9f6]
The only other thing you might need to do is upgrade your router firmware, But I don't think that's the problem.
What firmware version are you using? (mine is 1.42.7, Apr 02 2002)
It's on the main screen when you enter the router setup.
I've heard of some problems with different versions.
Here is the link to Linksys's download page.
http://www.linksys.com/download/
Select which router and which Operating System you are using.
You can flash in the new firmware. Just follow the instructions that come with the download. They are in PDF format so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it. It's free, You can get it here. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

There is an option in Seriour Runner to make it search for new maps. Go to Utilities, Levels, scan for DM levels. You have to do this each time you add custom maps for them to show up.

You might want to look in the server admin section at Seriously!(Sorry about mentioning that place) for an answer or as a last resort, Here's Aphextwin's email address if you would like to ask him Aphextwin@gameadmins.com

i ve found something on www.gamespyarcade.com :

Working Around the Firewall / Proxy
If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings, Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:

6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

i cant try it until sunday evening cause im not at my comp over the weekend :(

I didn't really dick with the memory setting any. I just changed it to the "fast" settings. I can write down what they all are if you want.
