New build with Windows 7 upgrade disc?

I am planning on building a new PC this summer and I am just wondering if I can use the upgrade version of Windows 7 to make a clean install into my new build. People say I need to install Vista or XP prior to installing the upgrade disc but what if I just use the Windows 7 RC build and then just do a clean install afterwards with the upgrade disc? Would this work? Reason is because my school sells the upgrade disc for $50 and I don't want to pay $200 for the full version. Thanks :thumbs:

do a clean install, don't put in the key, in windows change a registry entry, run a slgm /rearm command, reboot, activate, should be good. or do an upgrade install after that if it doesn't work. then you should be good.
