I will have to look when I get home tonight. I'm at a friends house tonight. Did you check the other things? What does it say in your control panel?

TheUltimateWarrior
09-28-2002, 09:37 PM

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-28-2002, 10:43 PM
Not sure what time i will be home. Just check back in the morning. I would not think it is a setting in your bios because those setting just don't change by themselves. I will post back later.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-28-2002, 10:58 PM

i'll check tomorrow morning

OUTLAWS The Machine

i checked for Integrated Peripherals - VIA OnChip PCI Device- VIA AC 97 Audio

wasnt there

but what was there was AC97 Audio and it was set on Auto

so thats not the problem i guess

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 11:17 AM
That is not the problem then. What does it say in your control panel?

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 11:18 AM
Do you know what motherboard you have? Have you reinstalled the sound drivers?

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 11:44 AM
i never installed sounddrivers for my onboard soundcart

my motherbord is Intel 1815-47B27X
thats my crappy motherbord

i checked in my control panel before

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 01:07 PM
What does it say in your control panel where I told you to look?

Also, right click on "my computer" and select properties. Then go to device manager. In there you should see your sound controller. click on the plus sign next to it and tell me what is listed.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 08:33 PM
its green

Nobody
09-30-2002, 08:34 PM
I don't see what the problem could be other than maybe your speakers or drivers. If you had somehow fried the onboard sound windows would not detect it. When you said you plugged in headphones did you plug them into the speaker jack on the back of the computer ? Other than that I would remove the sound device from windows device manager and reboot to let it re-detect it.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 08:36 PM
i plugged out my speakers and plugged in my headphones
to see if my speakers broke

Nobody
09-30-2002, 08:41 PM
OK !! We are just trying to make sure we cover everything. I would try the remove and redetect deal I stated above. If you need me to explain how just post again.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 08:44 PM
ok pls explaine

i'm a bit of a computer dummy!

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 08:47 PM
maybe i should reinstal windows????
but i have to look for the cd

Nobody
09-30-2002, 08:57 PM
It's really easy. I would not reinstall windows just removing and redetecting the device should do it if it is going to work at all. Go into device manager where it lists all your devices. You put a picture on the first page of this thread. Highlight the AC97 device and right-click on it and pick uninstall. That should remove most of the things listed under sound. Reboot your computer and it should redetect everything and install the drivers. You may need the XP cd but I doubt it.

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 08:57 PM
If you reinstall XP you will lose everything. Unlike Win98 where you could reinstall over top and keep all your settings. You could delete it out of the device manager and WindowsXP should recognize it as new hardware and reload the drivers.

You know sound cards are pretty cheap.

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 08:58 PM

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 09:01 PM
ok i will try it
i know soundcarts are pretty cheap, but i rather fix this now if it wont work i will make some backups and try reinstalling windows

after soundcart, but first i'll try deleting thats tuff

THNX GUYS!!

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 09:12 PM
i uninstalled that crap
and rebooted my crappy computer
it detected nieuw hardware, but after that the sign disappeerd, i dont know if it reinstalled the drivers, but in my device manager everything seems back to normal

and still no freakin sound!!!

when i start winamp and select a song it wont play, when i put it in half of the song and put play, it goes back to the beginning, when i shut winamp down it doesnt respond anymore

maybe this helps u, maybe not, i probably have to buy a soundcard, and i cant reinstal windows cause i seem to lost the cd

but anyway Thank both of you guys!!1

you helped me alot and i really appreciate that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ThnQ very much

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 09:12 PM

Delete out of the device manager and reboot.

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 09:17 PM

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 09:26 PM
good idea nobody !!
chan and jacobs both live 5 min from my house and the both have a soundcart its 23.23 now so i'll ask the tomorrow!!

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 09:26 PM
Maybe when you put your motherboard in, one of the screws is touching the motherboard. Did youi make sure that all the metal standoffs that the screws go through the motherboard into are lined up with a hole and that you don't have any extra standoffs that cound be touching the motherboard. Does that make any sence?

Nobody
09-30-2002, 09:41 PM
Don't forget to disable the onboard sound before you put the card in.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 09:47 PM
ok i disconnected en reconnected some stuff and now high noises are coming out of my speakers
its driving me crazy!!

WTF is this??

Nobody
09-30-2002, 09:48 PM
What did you do ?

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 09:48 PM
What did you disconnect and reconnect? I think that your motherboard is shorted to the case somewhere.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 09:56 PM
those green smal things, i toke those of and put them back on
and there are a few small wires disconnected, for the reset button, and small lights and 1 sais speakers, but i think its the speaker for my case and that what a friend told me too, so i was pretty sure

i just planted those small wires on my mainbord, light dont work, reset button neither and high noices out of my speakers!

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 10:02 PM
The case wires that you messed with should not have make any noise come out of your main speakers. I would take your motherboard out and make sure there are no extra metal standoffs underneith your mobo. And then put it back in.

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 10:03 PM
What small green things?

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 10:06 PM
well there are a few small green things that or spread across my mainbord

they are all 2 pinns thick

dunno what they are for :?:

Nobody
09-30-2002, 10:06 PM
I think he means jumpers  I hope you put them back like they were.

OUTLAWS The Machine
09-30-2002, 10:07 PM
Are they jumpers that short 2 pis together? If so that could be the problem. One of them might be to enable/disable onboard audio.

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 10:07 PM
yeah i did
i hope :?

TheUltimateWarrior
09-30-2002, 10:08 PM
